Upcoming Fall/Winter Movies

This summer saw the release of hits like Prince of Persia, The Karate Kid, Toy Story 3, Inception, Piranha 3D and action packed movies like The Expendables, The A-Team, The Other Guys, Salt ...... As well as disappointments such as Iron Man 2, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Knight and Day, Jonah Hex and Sex and the City 2.

So there wouldn’t be an Avatar this year .....

BUT .......

There is hope as movies rolling in the coming months are promising and should deliver quality entertainment from the Adventure/Fantasy – Musical – Action – Thriller – Sci-fi – Comedy – Drama (All Kinds) Animation – Horror .... and a Western!

M. Night Shyamalan is one of the most successful directors of the late 1990s into early 2000s; probably best known for the 1999 summer hit “The Sixth Sense”, and is well known for making controversial films with supernatural plots.

Born Manjo Nelliyattu Shyamalan, on August 6, 1960 in Mahe, Pondicherry, India to doctors and raised in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania. At the age of 8, he was given a Super-8 camera which began his passion for filmmaking. An ardent fan of Steven Speilberg, he had already made 45 home movies by the time he turned 17.

1. Machete



Machete, a former "Mexican Federale" turned renegade is hired by a crooked US Senator to execute a covert hit. He is double-crossed and is injured. A wounded Machete is taken to a hospital to be treated for wounds, and escapes from the guards before he can be arrested. Now he’s out looking for them so he can settle the score with the help of a fierce taco queen, heavily-armed holy man and a trigger-happy socialite April.

Co-written, produced, and directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, “Machete” stars Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan and Steven Seagal.

1. Iron Man 2
Six months after the end of the first movie, Tony Stark has used his Iron Man armor to bring about a negotiated peace treaty between the major super powers of the world, and his immense popularity with the general public is only furthered when he fulfills his father's dream by opening the "Stark Expo", to showcase all the latest inventions that will benefit the world. Stark is, however, still vilified by the United States government, and Senator Stern in particular, who demands that he hand his armor technology over for military application, when Stark refuses the events lead to the rise of Ivan Vanko a.k.a. Whiplash.



Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson.

1. Alice in Wonderland
This fantasy adventure film is directed by Tim Burton, and stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Michael Sheen and Stephen Fry. It is an extension of the Lewis Carroll novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.



Alice Kingsley, now 19, attends a party shortly after the death of her beloved father. Alice spots a white rabbit wearing a waistcoat and pocket watch. In shock and confusion, she runs off into a maze and follows the White Rabbit through it. She eventually tumbles down a rabbit hole into Underland, more commonly referred to as "Wonderland" by its inhabitants. She had visited this place 10 years earlier, but had entirely forgotten about it. She is also told that she is the only one who can slay the Jabberwock, the dragon who terrorizes the inhabitants of Wonderland under the rule of the Red Queen.
