PREVIEWS - December Movies

This is a period where studios release ahead of the Oscars and it's no surprise that nearly all holiday-themed movies came and went with November. These are the last movies to be released in 2011, so Enjoy!

New Year's Eve

Following the surprise hit, Valentine's Day, Director Garry Marshall has once again brought together an ensemble cast as a group of New Yorkers in intertwining stories over the course of New Year's Eve.


The only holiday themed movie coming out this year boast of a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfieffer, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, Katherine Heigl et al.

The Sitter

A suspended college student, living at home with his single mom, is talked into babysitting the three, young, misfit kids next door. However, when he brings the kids along for an attempted sexual rendezvous, the night takes a wild and dangerous turn for the worse.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

Adapted from John Le Carré's spy novel about an intelligence officer who is recalled from retirement when there are signs that one of the top-ranking officers of the British Secret Intelligence Service is a Soviet mole.


The movie stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciarán Hinds and John Hurt; with Tomas Alfredson as Director (Let the Right One In).

Young Adult

Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

The Adventures of Tintin

The fearless young reporter Tintin is on the trail of a big story which leads him into a world of high adventure. He and his friends go on a treasure hunt when they find directions to a sunken ship, and Tintin must face the notorious Red Rackham.

 The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo


A discredited journalist and a mysterious computer hacker discover that even the wealthiest families have skeletons in their closets while working to solve the mystery of a 40-year-old murder. The movie get under way as the journalist and hacker are briefed in the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, whose uncle suspects she may have been killed by a member of their own family. The deeper they dig for the truth, however, the greater the risk of being buried alive by members of the family, who will go to great lengths to keep their secrets tightly sealed.

Inspired by late author Stieg Larsson's successful trilogy of books, is this David Fincher-directed remake of the 2009 Swedish thriller of the same name. Starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård and Robin Wright.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, IMF operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates "Ghost Protocol". Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency's name and prevent another attack. To complicate matters further, Ethan is forced to embark on this mission with a team of fellow IMF fugitives whose personal motives he does not fully know.

We Bought a Zoo

A recently widowed father purchases a home which contains a zoo in its backyard in order to rebuild his family.

Based on true story, We Bought a Zoo stars Matt Damon, Thomas Haden Church, Colin Ford, Scarlett Johanssen and Elle Fanning; and directed by Cameron Crowe.

War Horse

A friendship begins between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the horse moves through the First World War, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets - British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, War Horse is based on a children's novel by Micheal Morpurgo and sit stars Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, David Thewlis and Peter Mullan.
