Finding Nemo
Packed with incredible animation, cleverly detailed, filled with humor, really interesting characters (with top notch voice acting), really fun story and those bloody awesome Turtle dudes!

This is clearly among the best animated films ever made, and it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, grossed nearly $900 million (on a $94 million budget) and is the Best selling DVD of all time - and you should own one too.

Buzz Lightyear: I just want you to know: even though you tried to terminate me, revenge is something we do not promote on my planet.

Toy Story

Brilliant - that's how I would describe this film as its uniqueness is unrivaled till date, c'mon a movie about the life of toys? Pixar definitely knows how to make them. Outstanding voice acting (especially Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, whose chemistry on-screen is legendary); a story that has the ability to appeal to every living person and a landmark for future animated movies.

A true work of Genius.


This would put the total films by Pixar that have appeared on the project at five (movie #14, movie #47 and movie #51), and they are all GREAT!

The English Patient
The Academys must really love this movie, nine wins? really?

But other than that, The English Patient was a really interesting experience, as the story is complex and powerful accompanied with fine performances from Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Kristin Scott Thomas, Willem Defoe and Naveen Andrews. From the late Anthony Minghella, who is making his second appearance on the project -- his first being Movie #5, did a swell job writing and directing this film that revolves around love, betrayal and loyalty; with much of it taking place in the desert before and during WWII.

Slumdog Millionaire

Clearly one of the best films ever made. This urban adventure literally goes on an amazing journey of survival and love told through a unique medium ... a game show! This film show the life of the hustler in a visually dazzling manner, with a little focus on the horror that child beggars face.

Atonement

For the first part of this film (at the Tallis estate), felt like I was reading the book with the balance and frame; but as soon as Robbie's arrested and goes off to war, you begin to experience the movie on a cinematic level. And what causes for its inclusion in the project is the story -- because its engages your interest then later squash any inkling of hope you may have -- told in a brilliant and technical manner.

The Aviator
Yet another superb movie from masterful director -- Martin Scorsese, who lost the Oscar for Best Director and Best Picture to Movie #16 and Leonardo DiCaprio losing to Jamie Foxx's Ray makes this one unlucky movie as it deserves to win Oscars in this category, especially DiCaprio, who gave one of the finest performances of his career.

Movie #79 - Unforgiven

Bill Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away everything he's got and everything he's ever gonna have.

Unforgiven
This is what westerns should always feel like, absolutely timeless. And Clint Eastwood, as director and leading actor, delivered brilliantly in this morally ambiguous tale.

Munich

Steven Spielberg's fictional take on the events following the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich olympics is complex, absorbing, emotional and above all ... excellent! This historical film begins quite slow but as the plot develops you get sucked in, as it relies on the deep seated hate between two nations.

Packed with thrilling moments, developed characters and a visceral theme; Munich questions the morality behind conflicts, leaving you with more questions.

Henry Hill: [narrating] And when the cops, when they assigned a whole army to stop Jimmy, what'd he do? He made 'em partners.

Goodfellas
Martin Scorsese presents a rock and roll gangster epic in the most authentic manner you can think of.

As usual, this mob masterpiece features Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, even Samuel L. Jackson and a mean looking (as always) Ray Liotta who all performed admirably, especially Joe Pesci who steals the show -- winning himself an Academy Award in the process.

Its direction's masterful, brutal, fast and captivating.

This 1990 hit is a really fascinating piece of cinematic history.

Day #74 - Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean
In my opinion the last two Pirates movies have been insanely boring, as the quests and characters have been weak, so this inclusion in the project are for just the first two -- Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest, simply because they are really fun!
