Day #72
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This is my favorite of the Harry Potter series, because of two simple factors -
- The depth of the story, HP3 goes deep into its characters asking a lot of questions that would go on to pave the way for the subsequent movies. Without a primary villain, the movie shifts focus on various secondary characters and goes darker entwined with a lot of emotions. With its complex story, this is one Harry Potter movie that has the ability to stand on its own. Bravo Alfonso Cuarón (he directed it).
- And Sirius Black, first he was bad .. only for us to find out that he was good guy that was framed; as Gary Oldman (in a role that revamped his career) looked really frightening with his portrayal as the wizard who had the audacity to escape Azkaban, a prison guarded by one of the most vicious creatures ever seen in the cinematic world. Also much praise to Cuarón and his special effects team as the visual effects, the dementors especially, were really frighteningly brilliant.
Oldman as Black |
A truly fantastic movie.
Although the werewolf looked really lame -- at least it's better than True Blood's.
